The City of Silicon: Vampires and Werewolves

Ash lowered his mouth to her neck and brushed his lips over the side of her throat, hands sliding up onto her shoulders, "But... you never know..." he whispered, sounding strange. "when I just might... lose control..." His heart was racing, his thirst threatening to overtake him. "Then you'll be forced to destroy me... Is that the kind of pain you're willing to endure?"

Lucia felt entranced. 'I wouldn't be able to hurt you even if it came to that." she said, breathing in his scent. She could feel her control of her emotions slipping. She would go insane from them. Her heartbeat was fast, twice that of what it normally was.

Ash's pulse was hard and loud in his ears, throbbing, bending his mind to it's harsh will. He had changed from sitting at her side to on his knees over her, menacing, terrifyingly resembling his worst nightmare, though he was struggling under his leech side's pressing control. His mouth opened over a vein in her neck as he pulled back his lips so his fangs could grow forward. It smelled so sweetly intoxicating; felt so warm on his tounge as it ran along her smooth skin, taking in her taste, absorbing her energy.
His grip was like a steel trap on her shoulders, but involentarily. The clock on the wall seemed to taunt him with it's endless rythm of sound. Tick... tick... tick... It grew in volume slowly as he lowered his eye teeth on her. Tick... tick... tick... Ash was trembling now, his need for blood challenging his hatred for flesh. His eyes focused far away, a blood red filling their irises - then he blinked.
Suddenly, everything changed. His eyes were coal black once more, glinting gold; his fangs gone. He was breathing hard and shaking like a leaf as he sat frozen in front of Lucia, head down.

Lucia looked at her friend, knowing why he had pulled back. She had watched his eyes turn colour and then flash back. The only odd thing was, she hadn't been frieghtened as most humans would be. "Ash? you okay?" she asked, placing a warm hand on her friend's trembling shoulder. Her emotions still raged inside her like a tornado, but she hid the fact by gathering strength from her wolf.

Ash's breathing stopped suddenly as he relaxed back onto the floor, letting himself go limp as he crossed his legs. He recooperated for a second while pondering how much control he'd just vested over the leech, proudly lifting his head after a minute. His expression was blank and tired, but a smile broke out across his face suddenly, "Love you, Lucy." Then he was gone. Vanished into thin air.

Lucia pulled her hand back and grinned slightly. "Love you too ash." she murmured. She laid down on her side, back to the couch. Her arm was under her head and her hoodie was sprayed out like a blanket.

Ash sucked down two blood bags from his old house and leapt out the window, hitting the road hard but silently. He began walking back to his appartment when the sun began coming up. He took one look at it and his eyes widened. No way the sun could be up yet! Breaking into a run, he pounded pavement as fast as he could as pink light spilled over the sleeping town and onto his pale skin, lighting it up like diamonds glistening under a spotlight. His arms pumped as fast as his legs, panic overtaking him. If he was spotted, it was the end of the vampire's hibernating identity. He finally reached his appartment and leapt through the bathroom window, slamming it shut and jerking the curtains shut. No one saw me; relax. But his heart pounded in fear.
To get his mind off it, he wandered into the livingroom, smiling when he saw Lucia asleep on the floor. He picked her up gently in his arms, holding her close to his cold chest as he brought her into his room. Setting her on the perfectly clean bed, he fixed the blankets and pillows around her and stepped back. Her skin looked so soft in the light coming through both his windows; alighting her hair and figure as she slept. He lay beside her slowlt, quietly, and circled his arms around her. No use worrying now. Closing his eyes, he drifted into a half-trance like state.

Lucia slept quietly. Merrywhether's whining woke her up though. She opened her eyes and was startled to discover she wasn't still in the living room. Cool arms were wrapped around her. Moving quickly, she came out of the circle of Ash's arms and walked out of the room, being carful not to wake him up. She saw the puppy sitting on the couch, whining a bit. "come here girl. i'll take you for a walk." she said, picking up her leash. She wrote a quick note and took the happy puppy out.

When Ash woke at ten, Lucia and the puppy were gone. He walked into the kitchen where he found her note. So she was taking Maryweather for a walk. Ok. Ash stuck the note on the fridge and was plodding down the hall to his room when he caught a glimpse of himself in the bathroom mirror, the door wide open from his last enter. He turned to face the mirror through the doorway and his solem expression blankened. A tall teenager with messed black hair drooping over his dark eyes and pale face, slumped shoulders burdened with secracy, clothes rumpled and dirty. Ash turned away from the mirror and took off his shirt, tossing it into the laundry he'd do later, pulling on a clean one. He was sick of being quiet, but it couldn't be helped.

lucia and Merrywhether came back, the puppy yiping the whole time. "Shhh. You'll wake Ash." she said before she smelt him already awake. the pippy went to her bed and sat down, while lucia followed ash's smell into the hallway. "Morning."

Ash smiled when he saw Lucia, "Morning." His smile vanished, "It's the last day of school today, and it's too sunny forme to go out. If you want to go, I'll keep the puppy busy."

"No. what am I going to do? besides, I'd like to be able to hear for the next ten years thank you." lucia joked. "the girl's will be screaming bloody murder all day, no pun intended.'

Ash laughed, "I can imagine our friends faces when they see neither of us are there," he said lightly. "so, what do you have in mind to do today?"

"well you can't do much with the sun out. We could just hang out with the pup for a bit, till twilight." Lucia said, pulling her hood down. The light had hurt her eyes outside.

Ash smiled as Maryweather jumped on him and began barking muffledly from the tennis ball in her mouth, "All right, lets play fetch. But only in the hallway; I don't want to knock something over and alert my neighbors." He tossed the ball and sat down on the hardwood floor against the door, patting the ground beside him.

Lucia sank down next to her friend as Merrywhether brought the ball back. ''good girl." lucia said, taking the ball and tossing it down the hall again. 'you feeling better ash?'

Ash nodded slightly, leaning back against the door with his elbow on his one bent knee, "Yeah, much." He smiled, "Seems I have more control then I thought."

"You did good.'' lucia said. She smiled gentlly. She threw the ball again and giggled. merrywhether reminded her of what she used to do when she was a little pup. running after whatever was moving, pounceing with yipes of happiness.

Ash laughed with her as Merryweather bounded back with the ball and jumped into his lap. He rubbed her head, tossing the ball again. He loved animals, but never was able to get close to one. "Did she like our neighborhood?" Ash joked. "On her walk?"

"She loves the smells. Which is always good. If a dog doesn't like the smell of someplace she wont go there." Lucia said, leaning against ash's arm. Merrywhether brought the ball back and Lucia threw it, her hand running down the pup's soft fur while she ran.

Ash smiled, "Good. I don't want to end up walking her all over the dome looking for someplace she likes," he joked.

lucia smiled gentlly and scratched the side of her neck. '"I'm proud of her. She didn't use the restroom at all in the house." she commented.

Ash nodded, "She must've been from a good family then," he said quietly. "I found her on the side of the road."

Lucia nodded, then shhivered. Being on the streets was hard as a werewolf, a puppy would have a harder time. Her whole left side was cool, which made her realize how much different she was from Ash. She loved him and didn't care about the difference, but it was still a bit unnerving.

Ash felt heat rise under his collar and tried to ignore the uncomfortableness as it caressed his cheek. He knew he would chase the hot away when he pulled away, but it bothered him a bit. Standing, he groaned and helped pull her up as well, leading her to the couch, "The floor isn't as comfortable," he explained as the puppy ran at him, bouncing into his arms. It began licking his face, which sent him burtsing out laughing.
